TROPICAL TRIBAL FRESH FLOWER COUTURE
“Oh lala, WOWZERS, Woohooo and all that Jazz!!” Is what I said when I seen these images.
Recently I was lucky enough to have the fabulous team at Tropical Fruit world let me raid their beautiful Gardens. With my creative juices flowing I jumped on the golf buggy floral scissors in hand. I was up the front next to the lovely gentleman driver from Tropical fruit world. Stacey from Botanical Bazaar locked an loaded in the back seat and my always trusty assistant Chrissy took the far seat pointing out all the gorgeous vibrant tropical goodies, smiling from ear to ear!
The first little darling I picked, Oh I should say BIG, big darling, was a gorgeous giant crab claw, stunning in colour and amazing in size. I jumped from the cart with excitement reached as high as I could bent the stem down to pick him, I was brimming with excitement …..and WHOOSH!!! When I bent the stem over stagnant water dumped, gushed, poured all over me!! Whatever word you want to use to describe it, basically it drenched me. My face, hair and saturated my clothes. Oh and it had a smell! A terrible terrible smell. The joys of nature hey? The poor Driver wasn’t so happy that I sat next to him anymore, but I didn’t share the dreadful smell with him alone No no I was considerate and every time we drove forward the girls in the back got to share the sweet smell of stagnant water too.
Any-who ….. after a good laugh and a quick squeeze out of my top I continued on my journey through the beautiful farm collecting weird and wonderful tropical goodies.
Chrissy and I spent the next day stitching and weaving the heavy tropical into this STUNNING and VIBRANT Tropical tribal creation. The Shoulder pads alone took Chrissy 4 hours to bind together. The head piece took Me 3 hours, 3 hours of intricate placement and stitching…did I mention stitching?!! Our poor little fingers knew their worth by the end of that day. The chest plates was a combined effort taking another couple of hours. So I would say all in all, this effortless looking tribal piece took us 12 hours to bring together. Thats 12 hours to make a piece look effortless?
The next day we carefully boxed up our piece and drove 4 hours to meet the awaiting team. The girls had been up there all day creating a little bit of magic themselves. Tribal-ising and beautifying of gorgeous model Courtney Johanna was Lauren from Make up Artistry by Lauren The make up was gorgeous and natural and the hair, oh the hair well it was as if we had been in tune with each other. Lauren and I had a five minute briefing on the phone and then WHAM the hair slotted divinely into the headpiece- AMAZING!! After all the initial excitement and squeals of coming together we jumped in our cars and headed into the Australian Coastal Bush lands. Stripped our darling Model down, kitted her up in the Tribal wear and loads of Mosquito Spray. Thats when the SUPER talented and slightly crazy (Crazy in the most wonderful way) Photographers from Alyce & Colette stepped in and did their thing, oh and what a thing they did!!
