Last year we had the pleasure of travelling down to the picturesque hinterland of Coffs Harbor on the East coast of Australia to create a stunning tropical collection of flowers for “James & Betsy’s” Wedding.
Held at Orara Valley Estate, a luxury private holiday house and wedding venue set on 60 acres of secluded landscaped gardens and rainforest. Nestled deep within a lush valley, with stunning panoramic hinterland views. Orara Valley Estate was Inspired by the haciendas of New Mexico, seaside villas of Santorini and the gardens of Tuscany, this artfully designed residence was a treat to style with our florals.
Pink flamingos and glossy tropical leaves set the tone. Bright colours for our bride with a bold Movement introduced by raw textures. Everything else was designed in Green only. Brilliant Tropical leaves with sharp edges and strong shapes to create a ‘Luxe” look, yet still keep it simple and inviting. Lashings of Berries and ferns softened the bold tropicals helping to merge them with the beautiful surrounds.
After a few late night phone consults, some designs specs and a color palette we pulled these fabulous floral installations together. We Designed everything onsite. Basically that means we turned up with car loads of Greenery a pair of clippers and some design specs on a mood we were trying to create. In hindsight it’s lucky we did this as the weather decided to turn on us the day of the wedding.
Brilliant storms came in on the day before the wedding leaving us to adjust our florals last minute, having me up a ladder wearing an oversized garbage bag, in a wild down pour of rain. I built a tropical arbor ‘just in case’ the weather cleared enough for images. As you can see below, the skies came across beautifully just in time for those gorgeous late afternoon shots. We had a back up plan, built the day prior to the wedding, lining the decking with a collection of ‘mini’ arbor pieces creating a gorgeous entrance for the Bride.
The Tables were mass palm leaves designed in our clean tall vases, quite the statement pieces.
The families were amazing and made us feel more than welcome with their buzzing energy, excitement and relaxed vibe. It was a wonderful Wedding to be part of.
