Fins Plantation House

I am going to paint this picture from my point of view… flowers fruits and laughter!

What an amazing day… ‘buzzing’ with the energy of creation. Everyone has just landed at the venue with all their bibs and bobs, bubbling and bursting with excitement and itching to put all our goodies together like a jigsaw puzzle to come out with something truly awe-inspiring for brides to be (and other creatives).

Given the fact that the stunning Fins Plantation House is set on the edge of Tropical Fruit world, my vision was to introduce all of ‘that’ into the theme. These brilliant colour tones and hard-edged shapes, vibrancy, greens, flowery, decadent and edible!

The bouquet consists of rich, passionate tones, with more of an eccentric overtone. I wanted to give it an edgy look, something to sit comfortably next to the amazing George Wu black gown and our model’s gorgeous face. A splash of deep dark red tones, some gnarly twisted vines, lashings of greenery, texture and an offset composition for a theatrical dramatic feeling which made my heart sing. The bouquet is casually freaking fabulous, sitting at ease against such strong components.

Next up, we have the table and the install… I came along with my own set of buckets filled with bright and brilliant tropicals and reds. But then… Tropical Fruit World gave me a golf buggy and a nice strong man and (quote) said: “Go for it”.

They set me free and I squealed with joy all the way around those grounds (literally squealed and giggled) in the end we did around 4-5 buggy loads. My assistant and I then took the nice clean polished Fins Plantation House floor and made an absolute FLOWER BOMB!

After hours of building the bomb, we left and the magic started to trickle through. The suspended installs were hoisted up by AVideas, they are the amazing at what they do and amazing people to work with. The install easily absorbed 2 FULL bunches of bananas with ease and a few Jackfruit as big as a full grown wombat. Hanging crabs claws, orchids. greenery, oh and lashings and lashings and more lashings of greenery!

The table was a decadent feast of tropical fruit and flowers running over 5 meters, set with a 30cm wide ‘garland’ of fruit. Oh my, it looked good enough to eat (oh wait, it was edible! Winner winner chicken dinner, or should I say tropical dinner? Boom-Tish!)

Mangoes, dragonfruits, jackfruit, lychees, starfruit, bananas, sapote, pineapples….the list goes on and on…

After all of this, we were done! BOOM yes! It was only 10.30pm. Our creativity was still brimming, however, our poor little feet weren’t so much brimming with excitement.

This is when my avant-garde piece fell out of my soul. That broken bit of my soul that I love so much, that bit my artist is nestled in.

We took our gorgeous model, switched her out of George Wu and into When Freddie Met Lily. Velvet Green, dark moody lighting.

Set against a Lindqvist Ink original canvas, purposely painted for this moment (so spoilt)…

What can I say… blood Red dragon fruit, roses and anything else that hit my hand and during into it.

With a massive Thank you to Emily K MUA and my assistant for really giving it one big last push to make this piece come to life.

And of course to the lovely and talented Tennille Fink Photography for capturing it all.
